Steep Hill Maryland is an MMCC licensed "Independent Testing Laboratory" (ITL) for medical cannabis products. Steep Hill's original ITL license was due to expire on 10/3/2019. On 9/25/2019 the MMCC met and took a vote to extend Steep Hill Maryland's license for 30 days, to 11/4/2019.
The reasoning the MMCC gave for extending the license, rather than renewing it, was that the MMCC needed more time to validate the information in the application and perform appropriate background checks. The MMCC had no publicized meetings between 9/25/19 and 12/16/2019. At the 12/16/2019 meeting, votes were taken to grant Quales Labs and Atlantic Labs each two-year license extensions. No mention was made of Steep Hill during the public portion of the meeting.
Note: the MMCC does have brief closed sessions during their meetings that aren't recorded or open to the public. On 12/17/2019 the MMCC published a list of MMCC approved ITL's. The list indicates that Steep Hill's license is due to expire on 3/3/2020. There is no public record of the vote to extend Steep Hill's license from 11/4/2019 to 3/3/2020. When did the MMCC decide to extend Steep Hill's ITL registration from 11/4/2019 to 3/3/2020? Why wasn't that vote taken in a public meeting? Will Steep Hill be granted an extension or renewal beyond their 3/3/2020 expiration? Source: These meetings are all recorded and stored in the MMCC website. Attached photo shows MMCC has an open investigation into Steep Hill.
